COVID-19 Domestic Violence Crisis

During times of crisis and natural disasters, there is a documented rise in domestic abuse according to the World Health Organization. Domestic violence is rooted in power and control. In a time when we are all feeling a lack of control in our lives, those who cannot manage these feelings are taking it out on their victims. For those who are already in an abusive relationship, there is an escalation of the frequency and severity of violence they are experiencing. This is compounded by a victim’s inability to leave the house during this time of quarantine.
